Screen not responding to touch, flickering or showing a green line: what to do
The phone taps on its own, part of the screen doesn't respond, the picture flickers or a green or pink line runs across it. Sometimes removing the screen protector or unplugging the charger is enough; other times the panel is damaged. Here is how to tell, what to do right away and what price to expect.

First, find out what is actually broken
The phone taps and opens apps on its own
Unplug the charger first. Cheap or damaged adapters and cables can interfere with the touch layer, and the phone then taps on its own only while charging. Remove the screen protector, wipe the display and dry it. If the phone still taps on its own without the charger and without the protector, the touch layer is damaged and the fix is a display replacement.
Part of the screen doesn't respond
The picture is fine, but touch doesn't work in a certain strip or corner. Test it by holding an app icon and dragging it slowly across the whole screen — where it gets stuck, touch isn't responding. If the dead zone stays in the same place after a restart and without a screen protector, the touch layer is damaged, often after a drop even if the glass stayed intact. If the glass is cracked too, see Broken screen.
A green, pink or white line runs across the picture
A typical OLED display fault: a thin vertical line that doesn't go away even after a restart. It most often appears after a drop or pressure on the display; on some models, though, it can also appear on its own, without any accident. A restart or an update rarely removes it, because the panel itself is damaged. The fix is a display replacement.
The picture flickers at low brightness
Many OLED displays dim the picture at low brightness by flickering it rapidly, which most people don't notice — more sensitive people do, and in a video filmed with another phone it can show up as stripes. This is how the display works, not a fault. Some phones have an option in the display settings that reduces it at low brightness. It is a fault when the picture flickers at any brightness, together with lines, or after a drop. If only the brightness changes on its own, turn off auto brightness as a test — it may be the proximity sensor or the light sensor, not the panel.
The screen is black, but the phone rings and vibrates
The phone is alive, it just shows no picture. It may be a damaged display, a display connector that came loose after a drop or, less often, a fault on the main board. You can't reliably tell from the outside. Choose Diagnostics: we inspect the phone and send you the exact repair price within 24 hours of receiving it. Diagnostics are free if you approve the repair; if you decline, we charge €35 for diagnostics and shipping the phone back.
The problems started after a display replacement elsewhere
Cheaper replacement displays, such as LCD instead of the original OLED, tend to have poorer touch response, lower brightness, thicker borders around the picture and more frequent phantom taps. Neither calibration nor a reset fixes that. The fix is a replacement with a quality display — we use parts of the highest available quality.
What a display replacement costs
The price depends on the exact model — a Galaxy A15 has a different display from a Galaxy S24 Ultra. The table shows where the replacement starts within each brand; newer and larger models cost more. You see the exact price for your phone once you pick the model.
| Brand | Screen replacement from |
|---|---|
| Apple | from €95 |
| Samsung | from €80 |
| Xiaomi | from €75 |
| Huawei | from €50 |
| Motorola | from €65 |
| Honor | from €75 |
| OPPO | from €65 |
The price you see for your model is final: part and labour, no hidden fees. It covers the whole display module — glass, touch layer and panel — and a 12-month warranty on the part and the work.
What to do right now
- Unplug the charger and remove the screen protector and any case that presses on the edges of the display.
- Restart the phone. If it doesn't respond, force a restart: on an iPhone, quickly press volume up, then volume down, then hold the side button until the logo appears; on Android, hold the side button — on Samsung together with volume down — for longer, until the phone restarts.
- If the phone taps on its own, lock it with the side button whenever you're not using it — otherwise it may call or message someone by itself.
- Make a backup while touch still at least partly works. We don't touch the storage during a display replacement, but a backup is your safety net with any repair.
- If the fault appeared after a drop and the phone also gets hot or switches off, turn it off and order Diagnostics.
Why not to wait
A damaged panel doesn't fix itself. Lines can spread, the dead zone can grow, and a phone that taps on its own can make calls or send messages without you knowing. If the cause is an impact or moisture, the damage can reach the board too — and the repair then costs more.
How the repair works
- You pick the model and the repair and order online. Nothing up front if you pack the phone yourself; a protective box for €5 is optional. Shipping is free.
- We email you a drop-off code (or send it with the box to your chosen Packeta point). You hand the packed phone in at a staffed Packeta point.
- Within 24 hours of receiving your phone, we replace the display.
- Once the repair is paid, we send the phone back to the same Packeta point. Return shipping is free.

Frequently asked questions
Won't a factory reset help?
Not with a display fault — a line, a dead zone or a damaged touch layer isn't fixed by a reset, and you lose your data. If the problem started right after an update or after installing an app, try a restart and the next update first; on Android you can also rule out apps by starting the phone in safe mode.
Will I lose my data?
No. The display is replaced without touching the phone's storage. We still recommend a backup before you send it.
What if the inspection shows the display is fine?
We write to you with what we found and a new price. Nothing is repaired without your approval.
Is a display replacement worth it on an older phone?
If the replacement costs less than half of what you'd sell the phone for today, it almost always is — you get back a fully working phone with a warranty. You see the exact price for your model before ordering.
